Children in Scotland FASD seminars

February 2012

Glasgow & Edinburgh

Children in Scotland is offering two seminars on fetal alcohol harm for practitioners. The seminars are relevant for people working in children’s services, alcohol-related work with parents, youth work, additional support for learning, sexual health, peer education, foster care, early years and other relevant fields.

These half-day seminars are free for Children in Scotland members and cost £25 each for non-members. Although experts will be on hand (including the Scottish Government’s first coordinator for work on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Dr Maggie Watts), these will be practical discussions among participants, not a series of lectures.

The first seminar on preventing FASD will be held in Glasgow on the morning of Wednesday, 1 February. The second seminar on identifying/dealing with FASD will be held in Edinburgh on the afternoon of Thursday, 9 February. There is limited space available and participants will be chosen on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Interested practitioners should register for the Glasgow seminar here and the Edinburgh seminar here.
